On-pitchconcussionscreeningThemajorityofplayerswhosustainaninjurytotheirheadandneckonthefootballpitchwillnothavealife-threateningcondition.Onceyouhavesatisfactorilyconductedthesuggested(modified)ABCDEassessment,anassessmentforconcussion(andotherlessacuteinjuries),isneeded.

Theimmediateon-pitchscreeningexaminationforconcussionisbasedontheSCAT3.FollowingtheFIFAWorldCup?,arulechangewasmadetoallowcliniciansadditionaltimetoassessaplayersuspectedofhavingconcussion.Thisruleappliesonlytoprofessionalfootballandonlywhenthereisadoctorpresenttoconductthisassessment.Followingaheadimpactevent,adoctorcanrequestanoptionalmatchinterruptionofuptothreeminutestoassesstheaffectedplayerwithrespecttocriteriathatrequireanimmediateremovalfrommatchplay.

Observation
Whenaheadimpactiswitnessedfromanyonefromthebench,theteamdoctorobservestheplayerforcriteriasuggestingabrainorcervicalspineinjuryorskullfracture.Thisobservationalperiodlastsfromtheheadimpacteventuntilthemomentwhentheteamdoctorreachestheplayeronthepitch.
觀察

Assessment
